About Claudia
There is something deeply healing about feeling truly seen — not just for what you are carrying, but for the younger parts of you that have had to survive, protect, adapt, and keep going.
You may be coming to therapy feeling disconnected from yourself, overwhelmed by family patterns, or aware that old wounds are still shaping how you move through your relationships. You may notice yourself responding in ways that feel bigger than the present moment, or carrying grief, trauma, inherited burdens, or a sense of not fully belonging.
I work with clients who are ready to slow down, listen inward, and begin understanding the stories, roles, and survival strategies that have shaped their lives. I especially love working with mothers, families, elders, and adults who are beginning to recognize the child within themselves who still needs care, protection, and compassion.
My work is rooted in the belief that healing is not about becoming someone new. It is about returning to the wisdom, tenderness, and strength that have always lived within you.
Therapy with me is a space where you can feel deeply seen, gently challenged, and supported as you reconnect with yourself, your story, and your capacity for healing.
What It’s Like to Work Together
My style is warm, intuitive, reflective, and honest. I often describe myself as an empathic observer and student of what unfolds in the therapy room. I listen closely not only to what is spoken, but also to what may be unspoken — the patterns, pauses, emotions, and body-based wisdom that often hold important information.
Together, we may explore family roles, intergenerational patterns, trauma, grief, identity, power, privilege, and the ways you learned to protect yourself. I may invite gentle inquiry, reflection, creativity, humor, or mindful attention to what is happening in the present moment. At times, our work may be insight-oriented and exploratory. At other times, it may be grounding, practical, and focused on helping you trust your own inner knowing.
I believe that healing requires patience, vision, and care. Many clients come to therapy carrying wounds that are invisible to others. I hold deep respect for the courage it takes to restore hope, advocate for yourself, and create life-sustaining change.
You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning. Readiness can simply mean curiosity, openness, and a willingness to meet yourself with more compassion.
My Background & Experience
I hold a Master of Social Work and a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry. Poetry was my first love language and teacher, and it continues to shape the way I listen for meaning, story, and the hidden expressions of the human heart. I am also a faculty member at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, where I remain committed to giving back to the social work profession and honoring the vital contributions of therapists of color.
I have been practicing and serving in healing-centered spaces for over 20 years. My work has included supporting people in carceral maternity wards, New York City emergency rooms, courtrooms advocating for children, oncology settings, and therapeutic spaces with individuals and families. These experiences shaped how I show up as a therapist — with humility, reverence, and a deep respect for both suffering and resilience.
My clinical training has been deeply influenced by the Ackerman Institute for the Family, the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care, and the White Institute for Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology. These experiences helped me understand people within the larger systems that shape them — families, cultures, communities, histories, and relationships.
My work is also informed by contemplative care psychology, including the teachings of impermanence, compassion, and the possibility of finding freedom through more conscious speech, action, thought, and presence.
