About Dr. Marie
With a nurturing, collaborative, and client-centered approach, I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for my clients. As an Asian immigrant, I deeply understand how culture shapes our perceptions, emotions, and life experiences. This perspective enriches my work, allowing me to connect with clients on a profound level and help them navigate their unique challenges with cultural sensitivity. I employ a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches, including EMDR, to assist clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, dissociation, family conflict, relationship issues, domestic abuse, self-esteem issues, and life transitions.
In addition to my professional work, I have dedicated significant time to volunteer efforts. I established a non-profit charity foundation designed to assist street children in obtaining proper education. This involved providing care, educational, and financial support to underprivileged children in areas not easily accessible by the Philippine government.
I have also collaborated with Catholic nuns and social workers in the Philippines to offer counseling and behavioral support to indigent children and parents experiencing hopelessness and despondency. My commitment to service extends to diverse populations, including providing counseling and social support to the elderly, helping them explore their experiences related to fear of dying, isolation, and helplessness. I have also helped battered Filipino women understand the causes and consequences of domestic violence and its pervasiveness. Furthermore, I have provided counseling and assistance related to trauma (PTSD), depression, and anxiety, as well as recommendations for proper psychological evaluation and seeking professional help. These experiences have profoundly shaped my approach and reinforced my dedication to helping others heal and thrive.
